Zalando is a European e-commerce company based in Berlin. The company maintains a cross-platform online store that sells shoes, clothing and other fashion items.

Zalando needed a highly performant monitoring solution for their e-commerce application. They chose InfluxData’s InfluxDB time series platform because it is simple to use and highly performant.

Prior to InfluxData, they tried PostgreSQL but it was not able to perform fast enough, and it appeared to be impossible for database engineers to customize the old HTML and JavaScript front-end fast enough to account for new use cases.
