At Seattle Lab, a global software solutions provider, the data center infrastructure was overtaxed by the volume of metrics generated by servers, network devices, and other critical systems. Manually tracking this data was difficult, so they began searching for a solution that would collect and analyze data in real-time. With a growing infrastructure and increasing customer demands, Seattle Lab needed an efficient, proactive monitoring system to quickly identify performance bottlenecks, optimize resource usage, and minimize downtime.
Seattle Lab turned to InfluxDB to build a robust real-time monitoring system for their data center, leveraging InfluxDB’s powerful capabilities and Telegraf as the data collection agent. Able to efficiently collect, store, and analyze metrics from multiple servers, they gathered key performance indicators such as CPU usage, memory consumption, disk I/O, and network traffic at high frequencies, creating a comprehensive, real-time view of infrastructure health. They also integrated Grafana, which provided dynamic, interactive dashboards for easy data visualization.
The result was a highly efficient, responsive monitoring system. The updated solution improved operational efficiency with proactive maintenance and led to better resource utilization, as the team can now make informed decisions about capacity planning, load balancing, and infrastructure upgrades based on real-time data. Downtime is reduced and collaboration across teams has improved, as the dashboards provide a shared platform for visualizing and discussing key metrics, helping us work together more effectively. Finally, Seattle Lab reports higher customer satisfaction, a direct result of more stable, efficient services.
