Abstract: Brian Buntz, in this IoT World Today article, chats with the CTO’s of InfluxData and Worldsensing about their role in monitoring the Ponte Vecchio bridge. In 2016, when a sinkhole opened up near the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence (Italy), authorities worried the famed structure could be at risk. This is when the IIoT company Worldsensing stepped in to enlist InfluxData’s help to monitor the bridge. The article covers how Worldsensing used wireless sensors to determine the bridge was safe, while using on the backend a time series database from InfluxData to look for anomalies in the sensor data.
