Influx/Days 2017 Speaker: Christine Yen

We have some great speakers for Influx/Days, and we are thrilled to let you know that Christine Yen is one of them! She is currently the CTO and Co-founder of Honeycomb, a startup that isn’t about to give you yet another dashboard or alerting system for your solutions. Honeycomb offers you a product that will empower you to ask real, iterative questions of your data and tease out interesting answers from complex systems in real time. Her talk at Influx/Days is titled “Observability: it’s not just an ops thing” a topic that has been given a lot of snark these days—in particular, with how it relates to monitoring. Is it just a new name for monitoring to make it sound fresh, or is it something entirely different?

Christine and her team understand all the sarcasm surrounding Observability because in the short term, they believe that Observability will look an awful lot like monitoring. But they also know that the complex, distributed systems that are being built are trending towards some tough debugging activity that won’t be able to solely rely on the typical metric collection and alerting from monitoring solutions.

Christine has a lot of experience with building large complex systems at companies large and small and likes to have her fingers in as many pies as possible. Previously, she built Parse’s analytics product and wrote software at a few startups.

Check out her talk and others here.
