Abstract: In its weekly news wrapup podcast, called The New Stack Context, The New Stack spoke with InfluxData Founder and CTO Paul Dix about why time series databases are needed now. The podcast accompanying commentary notes that InfluxData launched InfluxDB in 2013 and that since then, the software has had millions of downloads, built an expanding list of enterprise customers, and fostered a growing community. The commentary also points out what InfluxData CMO Mark Herring wrote on The New Stack this week: that most data is best understood in a time dimension, so the time series space is really just getting started. In the podcast, Paul Dix talked to The New Stack about why this is the case and shared some info about Flux, InfluxData’s new query and scripting language for time series data.
